At Northern Illinois university Clare's responsibilities included teaching theatrical makeup, very basic sewing, and managing and guiding sewing for shows.

Clare taught a basic theatrical Makeup Class. She taught 20- 30 students to do their own Basic Corrective (a no makeup look), Old Age (with the ability to adjust for different ages of characters), and Wounds. The students learned how to read and create a basic makeup chart. They learned various techniques for creating cuts and bruises, both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional (latex and nose and scar wax). And were asked to take into consideration timeframe and storytelling needs of a show. 

In 2020 and 2021 she taught the makeup class online. She taught by having students follow her over Microsoft Teams, and she recorded videos of herself teaching all the classes so students could go back over demonstrations on their own. She also has experience teaching students to thread a needle, thread a sewing machine, and construction techniques needed to make a mail carrier bag (seams, backstitching, under stitching, top stitching, etc.).
